It'ssssssss Wednesdayyyyyyyyyyy!! Happy two days away from the weekend (since today doesn't count obviously)! And two days away from the weekend means that we are THREE away (since Friday counts in my book as the start of the weekend) from the return of the NHL season!! Seriously, who isn't excited for that? No one who reads this, I know. Okkkk, some of you may not be excited, but I still love you and am glad that you stopped by. Before I go any further with today's post, I want to take a minute and say something I should have (and meant to but was exhausted while writing and forgot) said in yesterday's post but was thankfully brought up in the comments section. Thanks ladies for getting me back on track! Sarah mentioned that she thinks we've all made strides in the past few months, and I couldn't agree more. None of us is the same as we were a few months ago, and I think it's important for us to recognize the gains, accomplishments, and progressions no matter how small they may seem. Every step forward, regardless of how minute, is a step in the right direction, and I think we should look at where we are now and celebrate how far we've come. We may not be where we expect or think we should be, but we're not where we were or have been, either, and we're all determined to keep going. Methinks that a win for everyone, so I challenge you to find the progressions in your life and share them with yourself and those around you! Another comment that touched me came from more than one of you, saying that you are proud of the progress I've made in the few months that I've been blogging, and all I have to say to that is that YOU are a huge part of that. I've been myself here from day one, and you have all embraced and encouraged me no matter what I've written or been going through...talk about a self-esteem boost that helps me stick to my course on the rough days. I can't even begin to explain what blogging has brought to my life and meant for me, so all I will say is thank you, as insignificant as that may seem. I am where I am today thanks in large part to YOU, and I will never forget that or fail to be thankful for it.
I was going to participate in WIAW, but then I forgot to take pictures of my meals...woopsssssss. They weren't anything too interesting, though (more frozen leftovers courtesy of Joe and my mum...thanks guys! LOVING this whole not needing to cook anything besides breakfast after a long day of creating games like "running baby" [when baby is laying on his back in his gym on the floor, you move his legs very quickly, while saying, "Running baby! Running baby!" very loudly and excitedly] and "dancing baby" [the same as running baby except you move his arms and shoulders and he suddenly resembles Psy from "Gangham Style"]). Instead, I decided to steal a survey from Sam and Amanda, which they both posted on Sunday, and I have been itching to do ever since. Thanks ladies :)
Current Book: Gaining: The Truth About Life After Eating Disorders by Aimee Liu (recommended to me by Alex and also discussed by Sam). It's been very eye opening, and I'm glad I'm reading it.
Current Music: My music taste is pretty eclectic. I'll listen to anything from America's Top 40 (except Taylor Swift or Justin Beiber...cannot stand either quite honestly) to soft blue grass (Joe's fault...he makes me listen to things by The Civil Wars and Punch Brothers...had to learn to like it or car rides were going to be incredibly boring). Random, but it works for me.
Current Guilty Pleasure: Gossip Girl and Vampire Diaries. Not ashamed in the slightest either.
Current Nail Colour: I'm going for the natural look right now (and can't paint my nails to save my life...). February 9 (and a girl date with some old coworkers to get mani/pedis) can't get here soon enough!
Also a good idea.
Current Drink: Celestial Seasonings Sugar Cookie Tea

Yum. And I'll finish the last of the chili today for lunch. Let the pouting commence.
Current TV Show: Gossip Girl. I have to finish it before Joe gets home. He refuses to watch it. Boo hiss grrr.
Current Wish List: Joe home for good now, a bigger kitchen, more running clothes, blends lived closer (read: across the hall), Trader Joe's giftcards, unlimited money for races and travel expenses (and travel in general), yoga membership and more videos, monthly massages...to name a few...
Currents Needs: See above list.
Current Triumph: Peanut only yelled at me once yesterday (the bottle wouldn't heat up fast enough), I invented the "Running Baby" and "Dancing Baby" games, which kept him entertained for 20 minutes, and I'm still not going to run today, even though my hip feels back to normal at the time of writing. Another day of yoga won't hurt in the slightest.
Current Bane of my Existence: This freakin cold, which will not go away. Bah humbug.
Current Celebrity Crush: Channing Tatum, Ryan Gosling, and Hugh Jackman.

Yes please.
Current Indulgence: TJ's Crunchy Cookie Butter

So delicious...even when it's not Christmas anymore.
Current Food: I just finished dinner...leftover chili topped with Greek yogurt and cheddar cheese and cornbread...and froyo for dessert. They looked like this:

And it tastes delicious on everything, including my finger.
Current Blessing: Too many to name, but they include a boy, a family, friends, a Peanut (and the rest of his family), my health (overall), the imminent return of hockey, and my blog...all of which make me very happy and content. I'll be more specific tomorrow.
Current Slang: What's considered slang these days? And why do I get the feeling most of what I say falls under that category? Especially if hashtags are included?
Current Outfit: My smurf pants and one of Joe's t-shirts and hoodies. Comfort to the extreme.
Current Excitement: The Pens/Flyers game on Saturday during which I'll be hanging with some friends!! And my trip to see these girls in 9 days!!
Current Mood: Sleepy. I'm a sleepy girl right now.
Just like this puggy.

Aw your first paragraph is so thoughtful and so true! Love it girl. I also love this survey! I was thinking of trying to read gaining, especially after Sam's review of it a few weeks ago. I am sad you don't like T-swift ;) But really I do like her music but I am a country music girl. I love how much you are loving your job! Seriously girl every sentence you write about it makes it sound so fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks love :) I'm in a place where I know it's ok/good for me to be reading it...I think you could do it, too, and that you might find it helpful, but you definitely need to think about where you are in recovery. I am not a country fan sadly (my mum is though so I do know many artists/songs), and my job is pretty awesome :)
Deletelove the beginning (and all!) of this post. can't say enough how proud of you i am. also i don't like taylor swift either but i do LOVE the beibs so i might make you love him when you're down here in just 9 days! i also love the civil wars though so if beiber gets to be too much we can turn them on :) can't wait to see you! and i want some cookie butter now, so thanks for that.
ReplyDeleteThank you darlin :) And it's only fair that I made you want cookie butter since you made me buy my weight in special k this weekend! And we can listen to some beibs, I suppose...his new beauty and the beat song makes me giggle ;)
DeleteI need to buy cookie butter! Everyone keeps reminding me and one day I'll actually listen. Maybe. Also, I'm thinking I should read that book too... I've read books about life with an eating disorder but never life after one. It might be really good for me...
ReplyDeleteYes you do need to buy cookie butter! And I think it might be worth a try to read it...it's been powerful to me and eye opening and honest, which I appreciate
DeleteI'm glad you've been enjoying the book! I think it's one of the better ones I've read on the topic.
ReplyDeleteAnd oh goodness, that pug picture. I actually squealed out lad - I'm a tad obsessed with them.
I definitely agree with that! And I LOVEEEEEEEEEEe pugs!! We're hoping to get one within the next year or two :)
DeleteI'm totally copying this idea soon. Love it.
ReplyDeleteGreat celebrity crush list. I agree with all of them :) Pinterest is my current link right now too... Or Peas and Crayon's WIAW!
Do it!! Seriously, so much fun :) And oh that's an excellent link, too!
DeleteLovin the eye candy (in the form of Ryan, Channing, and Hugh). I want to read that book Gaining after I finish my current one! I think I am going to steal this survey soon :)
ReplyDeleteDo it!! To both of those last ones! And hell to the yes to the first one ;)
Deletei can see you are on a pinterest kick. i am jealous of all the frozen food leftovers. I need that in my life
ReplyDeleteI'm a lucky girl for sure :) But now I'm running low so I'm going to need to start cooking again...problem..
DeleteRunning/Dancing baby...cute! :)
ReplyDeleteSugar Cookie Tea??!?! Why have I never seen that D:!
I'm with you on TSwift and Biebs... but yea, Beauty and the Beat is pretty entertaining. I like The Civil Wars! Though I haven't known about them for long. First dance at my wedding was to one of their songs actually ;)
Thank you! And Idk but you must find it stat! And awesome!! What song?? I love them haha :)
DeleteI really love this survey! I read Gaining about a year ago, it's totally eyeopening and it really gets you to think about the thought processes behind your actions. The chili looks awesome, and that's saying something given that veggies/meat are making me gag lately haha. Hope you have a great day :)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more with your thought about Gaining. I'm not enjoying it perse, but I'm glad I'm reading it if that makes sense? And oh this chili is fabulous...Joe's special recipe...so so good :)
DeleteI felt the same way about the book! In fact, I only got about 3/4 of the way through it. I was so glad I read it though. And what a lucky girl, to have such a great cook for a boyfriend :)
DeleteThis is such a great post! It truly is why I follow your blog! Genuine. :).
ReplyDeleteI am going to steal this!! My celebrity crush right now is Martin Freeman. Watson!!
I am going to have to find that tea. I love ending my day with a cup. :).
Have a great day pretty lady!!
Thank you hun :) And yes you should, since I love reading these on other people's blogs, too! Watson is a cutie for sure, so I highly approve of your decision :)
DeleteSWEET FANCY MOSES, HUGH JACKMAN IS SO FRICKIN' GORGEOUS. (Sorry, momentary lapse of concentration. I blame Hugh Jackman.) Seriously, though, that man is amazing. So smart! So talented! So obscenely good-looking! Let's not tell my husband that I'm sitting here getting all googly-eyed over a movie star, m'kay? :)
ReplyDeleteAnd, on an unrelated note, I totally relate to your love of hockey. I played hockey when I was in high school, and my dad raised me on a steady diet of NHL and NCAA games. So, I join you in saying "drop the puck!" :)
OMG RIGHTTTTTTTTTTTTT???? And Joe is well aware of my love of these three men...we don't have secrets, so I have no problem making comments about my undying love in front of him...he just rolls his eyes and/or calls me in if they come on tv so I can see...he's a gem right ;) And yes!! hockey!! Who's your favorite team??
DeleteAwesome list of currents! Although, I am a big T. Swift fan [don't hate] :P I haven't tried the cookie butter yet but have heard tons of tasty things about it... And love your wish/ needs lists- both are full of many things I "need" too :P
ReplyDeleteNo hating here, I promise. She just really annoys me haha
DeleteTotally agree with you and Sarah! Everyone has been rockin' in lately with all this progress and it's super important to take a step back and appreciate that. Also, Ryan Gosling is marrying me so I hope that doesn't make you too upset... ;)
ReplyDeleteNot at all, as long as I can come to the wedding and meet him :)
DeleteEee! I love this survey, can't wait to fill it out myself! I'm kinda in your boat with the nails, I can't even remember the last time I painted them, and when I did, they looked like crap...
ReplyDeleteYes, Hugh Jackman is scrumptious. In Les Mis, Jean Valjean is always talking about how he's such an "old man". Well, old man, you're still a fox.
I couldn't agree more :) And I can't wait to read your answers!!
DeleteHaha as I was looking down at my disgusting toes during yoga today I made a point to paint them ASAP!! Maybe I'll get on that tonight :p That sugar cookie tea is soooo good! I Love all the Christmas varieties from Celestial Seasonings :) loved your survey!
ReplyDeleteThanks love :) I sooooooo need to paint mine too, although there's no point since running will wear the polish off by Friday or Saturday sadly :(
DeletePromise that you'll have a drink for me while your out with your friends watching the game?
ReplyDeleteAlso, Hugh jackman is delicious. HE was in the current women's healthier magazine I'm reading and I can't tell you how excited I got when I read that he likes blondes. ha ha :-)
Thanks for reminding me that my nails look like crap and really need painted. thank goodness Joshua isn't one of those guys that like women with nicely painted nails or wed probably need to see a counselor lol
